How do you build loyal subscribers?
I think loyal subscribers are built through honesty, consistency, and giving people a reason to come back.
Not everyone subscribes because you gave them a perfect polished article. Sometimes they subscribe because they recognise something real in your writing. A sentence. A memory. A travel story. A bit of humour. A moment where they think, yes, I know that feeling.
For me, building loyal subscribers means writing like an actual person, not a content machine. I want people to know what they’ll find here: real stories, travel, old places, starting over, ghosts, family history, books, bad dates, weird little discoveries, and the honest middle bits of building a different life.
I don’t think loyalty comes from shouting “subscribe” louder. It comes from trust. If people keep finding something useful, funny, moving, familiar, or interesting, they’re more likely to stay.
So my answer is: show up regularly, write honestly, make it easy to subscribe, and give people a reason to feel like they’re part of the journey rather than just passing through.
